Date # 5: The Scientist
Relax. Scientist, not Scientologist.
We met for brunch at Chez Oskar in Ft. Green. It was a rainy Saturday. I arrived first. He showed up and seemed really nervous. I got him talking about sciency things of which I have a very slim grasp of understanding. I just think it’s so cool that he quit his job and is working on this amazing project that could fail. That kind of risk-taking really impresses me. I tend to be fascinated by entrepreneurs in general.
We had eggs Florentine, though the menu called them Benedict.
Regardless, the Hollandaise was delicious.
Sometimes eye contact feels so weird. This was one of those times. I was conscious of when I was and wasn’t looking him in the eye.
When we were finished, I walked him to his bike. He grabbed and kissed me.
Since I am smooth, I said “I guess you liked me.”
His response was to kiss me some more, and he walked me to the subway. I took a few pictures of cool brownstones.
He’s in one of them.
Then he kissed me again, which made me feel kind of weird, since I liked date #4. It had only been a date or two, so I told myself it’s ok. We’re not picking out curtains just yet. I haven’t been doodling our names on my Lisa Frank notebook with the unicorns and dolphins on it. I shouldn’t put all my eggs in one basket…etc etc.
Oh yeah. I’m a recovering Catholic.
